International Driving Licence

A valid International Driving Permit (IDP) that matches the vehicle category you are renting (motorbike / car).

Passport

Your original, valid passport, shown at handover so we can verify your identity.

Important notices to comply with

8 conditions every renter must follow

These terms protect both you and us during the rental. If anything is unclear, message us on WhatsApp before the unit is delivered.

  1. 1

    International Driving Licence required

The client must hold a valid International Driving Licence (IDP) at the time the unit is handed over.

  2. 2

    No transfer to other parties

Rented vehicles may not be transferred to other parties without written permission from CV. SMS.

  3. 3

    No selling or pawning

Rented vehicles may not be sold or pawned.

Violation of this point is a criminal offense and will be processed according to applicable law in Indonesia.
  4. 4

Return must not exceed the agreed time limit

The rental vehicle must be returned on time according to the agreement.

If a delay occurs, a fine of 100% of the daily rate (Dayrent) will be imposed according to the applicable regulations.
  5. 5

Negligent damage is the client's responsibility

If damage occurs due to negligent use, all costs incurred will be the client's responsibility.

If genuine spare parts are not available at Yamaha Bali, the renter will be charged an additional fine equal to the rental rate for each day spent waiting for the spare parts to arrive from Jakarta.
  6. 6

    No insurance for motorbikes

Motorbike rentals are not covered by insurance.

  7. 7

    No refund for early returns

If the unit is returned earlier than the agreed rental period, no refund can be claimed.

  8. 8

    Acknowledgement

By signing the rental agreement (or by confirming a booking via WhatsApp), the client states that they have read, understood, and agreed to all of the terms above.

These terms may change at any time. The version that applies is the one shown when the unit is handed over and recorded in the rental agreement.

These terms set out the agreement between you and SMS Rental Bali for every vehicle rental.

Last updated: 29 May 2026

These Terms and Conditions complement the document requirements and the on-page rental rules already shown on our rental terms page and in the rental agreement signed at handover. They do not repeat the licence and identity document list or the eight riding rules. Instead, they set out the formal commercial and legal clauses that apply to your booking with SMS Car & Motor Bikes Rent, also known as SMS Rental Bali.

1. Acceptance of terms

By confirming a booking with us, whether through WhatsApp, our website, email, or in person, and by taking delivery of a vehicle, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, the rental rules on our terms page, and the rental agreement signed at handover. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with the booking.

2. Eligibility and valid driving licence

You must be legally entitled to ride or drive the vehicle category you rent. The valid driving documents required, including an International Driving Permit and passport, are set out on our rental terms page and verified at handover. You confirm that you are physically fit to operate the vehicle and not under the influence of alcohol or any substance that impairs driving.

3. Booking and payment

A booking is confirmed once we have agreed the vehicle, dates, delivery details, and price, and you have acknowledged this confirmation. Prices are quoted in the currency stated at the time of booking and may vary by season, rental length, and vehicle. The agreed daily or package rate is payable as arranged with us, typically at or before handover. You are responsible for fuel during the rental unless we state otherwise in writing.

4. Security deposit

A security deposit may be required at the start of the rental, depending on the vehicle. The amount and form (cash, card hold, or as otherwise agreed) will be confirmed before handover. The deposit is held against late return, unpaid charges, fuel shortfall, traffic fines incurred during your rental, or damage for which you are responsible under these terms. Any remaining balance is returned to you after the vehicle has been checked at the end of the rental.

5. Cancellation and refunds

We understand that travel plans change. If you need to cancel or change a booking, please tell us as early as possible on WhatsApp so we can release the vehicle for other guests. As stated in our rental rules, if a vehicle is returned earlier than the agreed rental period, the unused days are not refundable. Where you have prepaid and cancel before handover, we will discuss a fair resolution with you in good faith.

6. Insurance and liability

Insurance scope differs by vehicle. As noted in our rental rules, motorbike rentals are not covered by insurance, so you are responsible for the scooter and for any third-party consequences while it is in your care. Where any insurance applies to a vehicle, it is subject to its own limits, exclusions, and excess, and it does not cover negligent or unlawful use, riding without a valid licence, or driving under the influence. You remain responsible for fines, tolls, and penalties incurred during the rental.

7. Damage, loss, theft, and breakdown

You agree to use the vehicle responsibly and to keep it secure. Damage caused by negligent use, loss, or theft during the rental is your responsibility, as set out in our rental rules, including the cost of genuine spare parts and any related downtime. In the event of a breakdown, accident, loss, or theft, contact us immediately on +62 857-1181-1966 so we can help and, where relevant, arrange a replacement. For theft, you must also report the incident to the local police and provide the report to us. Fair wear and tear, such as light scuffs to plastic, is not charged.

8. Prohibited use

The vehicle must not be used to carry more passengers than it is designed for, to transport goods for hire, in any race or competition, off suitable roads, for any unlawful purpose, or while the driver is unfit to drive. As set out in our rental rules, the vehicle may not be transferred, sublet, sold, or pawned. Breach of these conditions may end the rental immediately and make you liable for any resulting loss.

9. Delivery and return

We offer delivery and pickup within our service area, as described on the website. Please be available at the agreed time and place, and have your documents ready at handover. The vehicle should be returned at the agreed date, time, and location, with the same fuel level and in the same condition as received, allowing for fair wear and tear. Late return is subject to the charges described in our rental rules.

10. Force majeure

We are not liable for failure or delay in performing our obligations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, volcanic activity, floods, fire, accidents, strikes, civil disruption, government action, or disruption to fuel, power, or communications. If such an event affects your rental, we will work with you in good faith to find a fair solution.

11. Limitation of liability and disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SMS Rental Bali is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of enjoyment, missed travel connections, or lost income, arising from the rental. Our total liability in connection with any rental is limited to the amount you paid for that rental. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under Indonesian law. Riding and driving carry inherent risk, and you operate the vehicle at your own risk and responsibility.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms and any rental with us are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. We will always try to resolve any concern amicably first, so please raise it with us directly. If a dispute cannot be settled informally, it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version. The version that applies to your rental is the one in force when your booking is confirmed and recorded in the rental agreement at handover.
