SMS Car & Motor Bikes Rent, also known as SMS Rental Bali, is a small family-run scooter and car rental in Pecatu, Bali. We collect only the data we genuinely need to confirm a booking, deliver a vehicle, and answer your questions. We do not sell your data, and we never share it for advertising purposes. What data we collect

- Booking and contact details. Your name, phone number, email address, the dates of your rental, the vehicle you choose, and the address where you would like the scooter or car delivered. We may also note your nationality and, at handover only, verify your passport and International Driving Permit to confirm eligibility. We do not retain copies of these identity documents beyond what is needed to complete the rental.
- WhatsApp messages. When you message us on WhatsApp, we receive the content of your messages, your WhatsApp display name, and your phone number. We use these to answer your questions and arrange your booking.
- Form submissions. When you complete the contact form on this website, the information you enter is delivered to our email inbox through Web3Forms, our form processing provider. This typically includes your name, email, and message.
- Automatically collected analytics and device data. When you browse the site and have accepted cookies, we collect standard analytics data such as pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (city level), device type, browser, referral source, and anonymized interaction data. We do not knowingly collect special-category data (such as health or biometric data), and we ask you not to send such information through our forms or WhatsApp.
How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Confirm availability, prepare a quote, and process your booking.
- Arrange delivery and pickup of your scooter or car, and contact you about the rental.
- Verify eligibility (valid licence and identity) at handover.

- Understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it, but only with your consent through analytics cookies.

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar laws apply to you, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract. Processing your booking and delivery details is necessary to provide the rental service you requested.
- Legitimate interests. Answering enquiries, keeping records, and maintaining the security of our website.
- Legal obligation. Retaining certain transaction records for accounting and tax compliance.
- Consent. Analytics and session-replay cookies (Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity) load only after you accept them through our cookie consent banner. You can withdraw consent at any time, as explained in our Cookie Policy.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and remember your consent choice. Analytics cookies are optional and load only after you click Accept on the consent banner.
- Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js, property ID G-YXH34XR8BQ) helps us understand which pages are useful and how visitors find us. The data is aggregated and we have IP anonymization in effect.
- Microsoft Clarity (project ID wybivjf511) provides heatmaps and anonymized session replay so we can see where layouts confuse visitors. Replays are masked: text input and sensitive fields are not recorded.

Third-party processors
We share data only with service providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent needed. These include:
- Google (Google Analytics 4) for website analytics.
- Microsoft (Clarity) for heatmaps and anonymized session replay.
- Web3Forms for delivering contact-form submissions to our email.
- Sanity as the content management system that powers our blog.
- WhatsApp and Meta when you choose to contact us through WhatsApp, your messages are processed under WhatsApp’s own privacy terms.
Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy and applicable data-processing terms.
International data transfers
We are based in Indonesia, and our service providers (Google, Microsoft, Web3Forms, Sanity, and Meta) operate globally, so your data may be processed on servers outside your home country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, these providers rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect transferred data.
Data retention
We keep your data only as long as we need it:
- Booking and contact records are kept for the duration of the rental and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle follow-up, repeat bookings, and any disputes, and as required by Indonesian tax and accounting law.
- WhatsApp conversations remain in our chat history unless you ask us to delete them.
- Analytics data is retained according to the default retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, typically up to 14 months for GA4 and shorter for Clarity.
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erase your data where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time, with no effect on processing already carried out.
- Data portability, where applicable.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@smsbali.com. We will respond as quickly as we can, normally within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
Our rental service and this website are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Renting a vehicle requires a valid driving licence and identification, so our customers are adults. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
