SMS Car & Motor Bikes Rent is a family-owned motorbike and car rental in Pecatu, Bali, founded in 2018.
The founders are Kevin and his father. Between them, they handle every part of the business, from answering WhatsApp at 11 pm when a guest needs a same-day confirmation, to wiping down a helmet before it goes out to your villa.
How it started
We launched in 2018 with a handful of bikes in the family garage in Pecatu, about five minutes from Uluwatu Beach by scooter. The idea was simple: a lot of travellers staying in Uluwatu villas struggled to find a rental that delivered clean bikes and a no-drama deposit policy. If we could bring the bike to the villa, free, no fuss, we’d have a place in the market.
Eight years on, we’re still in Pecatu. Still family-run. The difference is that our guests now arrive from Singapore, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, Spain, Indonesia, Russia, and the UK. And we still remember their names.
Our focus: quality, not scale
A lot of rentals in South Bali chase volume, as many bikes as possible, as many transactions as possible, lowest possible cost. We picked a different path. Our fleet is deliberately small: Honda Scoopy 110cc, Yamaha Nmax 155, Yamaha Xmax 250, a few city cars, and an 8-hour car-with-driver package. That’s it. Each unit is serviced on schedule, helmets are washed between bookings, and any bike with an issue stays off the rotation until it’s road-ready again.
The result: we never feel pressured to hand over a half-ready bike. Our guests get a unit that’s actually ready, papers in order, clean helmet. That’s how phrases like “near new” and “smells nice and clean” end up in our Google reviews.

No hidden fees for minor scratches. Riding in Bali, especially for the first time, means the occasional emergency brake or wobbly park job. We won’t bill you for hairline scuffs on plastic. That’s normal wear and tear.

Our honest vision
We don’t have a target to become the biggest rental in South Bali. Our target is simpler: every guest who rents from us should leave with a story they actually want to tell their friends. That’s what produced these 30 five-star reviews without us asking for them. That’s also why roughly 70% of our bookings come from word of mouth and repeat customers.
